[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Addiction recovery is a lifelong process. That’s why many people refer to themselves as “in recovery” and not “recovered.” Treatment is important—but it’s not the end of the work. At TruHealing Centers, we work with you to create an aftercare plan. You will not be sent off without support.
Aftercare is follow-up treatment for substance use that is received after you have completed a treatment program. The goals of aftercare are not only to prevent relapse, but also to support your recovery and ongoing growth.
Making an aftercare plan means using the skills you learn in treatment to help anticipate and cope with potential triggers. Some common forms of aftercare are sober community housing, 12-step fellowships, and therapy.
Aftercare plans should always be based on your unique experience. Yours might include a schedule to keep in touch with your support system. It might entail meditation or other stress reduction techniques.
During treatment at Amatus, we connect you to local 12-step groups that can become part of your future sober support system. Once you have completed the levels of care, we provide sober community housing. This is a way to transition into life outside treatment surrounded by people who are also committed to recovery. We offer alumni programs run by staff members whose job is to engage alumni—to each other and to their recovery program.
The transition from treatment—where you are away from triggers and surrounded by peers in recovery—to everyday life can be hard. The first few months after treatment is when people are most prone to relapse. You don’t want to leave treatment haphazardly. It’s important to face the transition from a place of mindfulness. Our staff will support you in making a solid plan, so that you can feel secure as you work toward long-term recovery.
