On May 2nd, Awakenings Recovery Center will launch Funkstown, a new outpatient program. Awakenings currently provides residential treatment, where clients live at the facility. Funkstown allows clients to live at home while receiving treatment, helping them adjust to everyday life in recovery under the care of highly trained clinicians. Soon the program will also offer primary mental health outpatient services—including daily group programing, individual therapy sessions, and case management services.
According to the National Institute on Drug Abuse, longer treatment stays are associated with higher recovery success rates. Addiction impacts all areas of people’s lives. They need consistent support while addressing the underlying reasons they used substances, learning healthy ways to cope with triggers, and rebuilding their lives. According to Jim Tedone, Executive Director of TruHealing’s Maryland facilities, “Funkstown creates a continuum of care within the TruHealing and Awakenings family that increases the chance of recovery.”
